Intelligent Energy Management That Makes CENTS

A typical desktop PC with a 17-inch LCD monitor requires about 100 watts—65 watts for the computer and 35 watts for the monitor. If left on 24x7 for one year, this same computer will consume 874 kilowatt hours of electricity—that’s enough to release 750 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and the equivalent of driving 820 miles in the average car!

Faronics Power Save delivers desktop computer energy management that doesn’t interfere with user or IT needs. Power Save uses intelligent energy management to ensure workstations are available when system resources are required, but conserving power during productivity downtimes. Power Save provides organizations with real financial and energy savings on every computer deployed, as well as centralized workstation power status control and can prove its rapid return-on-investment through network-wide power consumption and savings reports

Power Save is the only computer energy management solution that analyzes CPU, disk, keyboard, mouse, and application activity before taking power management actions, and is the only solution available for both Windows and Mac computers. With an average savings of $25 per computer per year for every computer deployed, Faronics Power Save is the ultimate green software solution for desktop and laptop computers.

Manitoba Power Smart Rebate Program: Faronics Power Save

Reduce Consumption at Zero Cost - The average return-on-investment for a Power Save deployment is approximately 4 months, but because of rebates currently offered by Manitoba Hydro, the return on investment is instantaneous. Power Smart rebates cover 100% of the total price per unit. So, your cost is zero. By working with EPIC Information Solutions, you can not only take advantage of this rebate, but also reduce your carbon footprint, and start saving real money every year. Additionally, Faronics and EPIC Information Solutions are also able to assist you with the paperwork to make this process easy and quick, and eliminate problems where rebates return to general revenue instead of your departmental budget.

Known Savings at your Fingertips - Power Save generates accurate reports detailed by computer and monitor, showing you the incremental savings gained through the use of Power Save, in terms of both monetary and energy usage. Power Save's Audit mode provides a baseline measure of the energy being consumed, making it easy to determine the true value of the savings generated when Power Save's features are enabled.

Non-Disruptive Energy Management - The ability to schedule Power Save configuration updates on a single, daily, weekly, or monthly basis allows IT administrators to effortlessly make changes to enterprise energy management policies. Power Save is designed to look at CPU and Disk Utilization thresholds that IT administrators can set so that Power Save will not shut down computers if background jobs such as VPN, remote access, and remote backup are running. Power Save allows IT administrators to specify critical programs that are exempt from power down if they are running. CPU and Disk Utilization combines with this feature to ensure that systems are not powered down when students or teachers do not want them to. Power Save also supports Standby (recommended) and Hibernate power modes to ensure that any unsaved student or teacher data is not lost.

Testimonials

Initially, we installed Power Save on only two computers and then proceeded to evaluate it for over a month. In September of 2007, we deployed the Power Save campus-wide on all student workstations. Reporting really sealed the deal for us. It makes it easy to associate a dollar value to the energy management methods we have deployed.
Sung Lee - Director of Student Computer Support, Howard Community College

We chose Power Save because of cost and the fact that it did not require SMS, which we are still getting implemented at this time. It has freed up the time and resources of IT because we trust Power Save to shut down the labs for us in order to satisfy our district’s energy policy requirements. Newport Independent Schools currently have their computers configured so that the workstations are powered on only during school hours. Additionally, the monitors are set to power down after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Rusty Adams - Lead Technician, Newport Independent Schools

We’ve had a very positive experience with both Faronics and Power Save. We did review a number of competing solutions, and Faronics Power Save came in on top of all the competitors with a great set of features, within our budget, and the best bang for the buck.
Ethan Haberman, Network Supervisor, Coeur D’Alene School District
